This Week on Musicians Radio
Ok - I know it's been a long time since my last newsletter. I have many cheap excuses. You've heard them all before. Let's just get to it.
This week on Musicians Radio...

Finger style guitar phenom Laurence Juber will be Mark Goldenberg's guest on GTR-B-Q

Laurence has taken finger style playing to a whole new place with his command of alternate tunings.

They'll be discussing his new release PCH as well as his instructional DVDs, oh yea... and that band he used to be in called Wings.

Also, Felice Keller will discuss the finer points of songwriting with Big Al Anderson.  Big Al is not just a hit songwriter with covers by Vince Gill, Carlene Carter, Jimmy Buffet and more, he's also the same Big Al Anderson of NRBQ. He played in that band for over 20 years. Find out what experience made it clear he should quit the road and devote his time to writing songs.

Now, since I have not done a newsletter in so long I must remind you that right now at www.musiciansradio.com you can download or stream last week's broadcast which featured my interview with the late Teo Macero - producer of so many seminal jazz records from Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue and Bitches Brew, to Charles Mingus' Ah Um, Dave Bruebecks' Take Five as well as records by Thelonius Monk and many others.

Teo was so generous with his time as he graciously recounted stories from learning his craft on an aircraft carrier in WW2  to being on the bandstand with Charles Mingus and working with his heroes Duke Ellington and Count Basie. If you have not heard it yet  check it out now.

Also thanks to our friend Kevin Walt and M-audio for recommending iZotope RX software. It miraculously turned a bad phone connection into audio that enabled me to air what is likely Teo's last interview. Thanks Kevin.

Also at the site - check out our show from two weeks ago with Chuck Prophet. We interviewed him before his gig at "Sings Like Hell".  It gave us an opportunity to discuss some of his urban legend escapades.

From Santa Barbara I met with Bela Balogh and Courtney Von Drehle of 3 Leg Torso - a band from Portland, Oregon that is ushering in a style called World Chamber Music. Check it out and find out what it means to "meester".

No newsletter next week as I'm off to do a gig at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So two weeks from now we'll talk about Lili Haydn, Jake Armerding and Jack Black. yes I said Jack Black.

Musicians Radio airs this Sunday on XMPR channel 133 at 5 pm pacific 8 pm eastern. And all week long at www.musiciansradio.com.

Thanks and have a great week.

Peace,

Kevin
