Legends are not necessarily famous people.
Fame would have interfered with all that. Sometimes he would play gigs. That' s what guitar players do. But he would never tell anyone before hand. He just wanted to play. He also wrote some books on guitar which still stand as rites of passage to a higher level of playing
Mostly what he did was teach. And for that he became a legend. Very few teachers get a cult following like Ted - a following that continues to grow even two years after his death.
This week on Musicians Radio GTR-B-Q host Mark Goldenberg and his guest Tom Bocci will look back on the life of guitar legend Ted Greene.
Make no mistake about it "friends and students" of Ted Greene are some of the best guitarists around. And we'll hear from some of them as well.
I heard that the night before he passed away, through his cell phone, he heard Eric Clapton playing his song "Them Changes" live at Madison Square Garden. Clapton had added the song to his set as a tribute to Buddy.
Upcoming shows will include Chuck Prophet, Laurence Juber, 3 Leg Torso, Lili Haydn, producer Ed Cherney, and Wrecking Crew legend, drummer Hal Blaine. Our show airs on XM satellite radio channel 133 Sundays at 5 pm pacific 8 pm eastern. Remember if you don't have XM just subscribe to our podcast at iTunes or www.musiciansradio.com. Thanks and have a great week.
