This Week on Musicians Radio
Times change...

Last night we played New York City.  The gig was at a place called the Society for Ethical Culture.  An old and beautiful private school hiding uptown on central park west.  It occurred to me in the middle of the set that when Rock music first came along, the people associated with this place would have never considered it ethical or cultural.  Yet, here we were rocking away being far safer and much more acceptable than gangster rap or your average radio shock jocks. I wonder what will play here thirty years from now?

We launched into "For What It's Worth" an "us verses them" anthem of 60's counterculture.  Conjuring up all the images of the sixties we've become so familiar with -  Kent State, The Haight, Sunset boulevard's Whiskey a-go-go riots and so forth.  Every one in the crowd sang along at full volume shouting out the chorus.  The difference now was they had their children in the audience singing along with them. They sang at the top of their lungs.  I found myself wondering... thirty years from now what images will it conjure for them?  Sadly I realized this was their song too.  I guess times don't change.

Other things a bass player thinks about during a show - E  two, three, four,  G  two, three, four,  A minor two, three, four...

Meanwhile... This Week at MusiciansRadio.com

In order to bring the show and the website a little closer in sync, we will be posting Allison Moorer's On The Record interview with singer-songwriter Mindy Smith.  They'll be discussing her latest release titled "Long Island Shores", the craft of songwriting, and shoe shopping on the road...

Also - in search of the ultimate guitar tone I'll go Behind the Scenes and talk with David Wilson.  He's the mastermind behind a magazine called The Tone Quest Report.  Talk about in-depth stuff. If you have any questions about how guitar players get great sound, this is the magazine for you.  Pure subscription.  No advertising.

Speaking of magazines and advertising, did you see our ad in "American Songwriter Magazine"?  Very cool.  Go get this month's issue.  They really do cover all the aspects of songwriting and music making.

And last but not least respect to Roland/Boss they are a great sponsor and a great help to Musicians Radio. That's why you'll click on this Link and check out their products. Seriously, this company has been so cool to work with.  They are really into the whole idea of Musicians Radio and are helping us flourish. Thanks Chris and Tara.

Now remember the line up listed above  is NOT  the up coming radio show which airs on Sundays on XM satellite radio channel 133 at 8 pm eastern 5 pm pacific.  This is just a reminder to check out  last week's show which had yet to be posted at www.musiciansradio.com so go there or to iTunes -> podcasts -> musicians radio -> subscribe and you'll find it there.
