This Week on Musicians Radio
Summer is ending. That's a good thing. Now we can get back into some kind of schedule. Don't get me wrong, I like Summer,  but so many things fall through the cracks between gigs and vacations.

That is why we are doing this newsletter in two parts. This is our drummers issue. So many drummers... so little time.  Part one is the podcast.

If you happened to miss the radio show a couple of weeks ago I have good news.  We have just uploaded our feature interview with drummer Steve Ferrone.

Steve has been in a few bands.  Some you may have heard of...  Brian Auger's Oblivion Express,  AWB,  Eric Clapton,  and now Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Needless to say he has always been playing at of with the most popular or groove breaking bands since his career took off.  Even as a studio musicians his credits vary from Chaka Kahn, to Stone Temple Pilots.Steve grew up in London and started playing in pubs.  He was so young that the band had an escape route planned for him in case the cops showed up.

Check out the interview.  The easiest way is to go to our podcast page http://mrpodcasts.podshowcreator.com/ and download it.

Now as far as next weeks Musicians Radio show on XM satellite radio channel 133 XMPR on sunday at 5 pm pacific and 8 pm eastern. Here's what's coming up...

First up I'll talk with Martin Atkins.

Martin's story is quite typical. Young kid plays drums in early seminal punk bands like Public Image Ltd. Brian Brain and Killing joke,. Somehow gets led astray and becomes a label owner, manager, artist, and college professor. True.  But wait that's not quite enough.... Martin has a new book coming out called  "Tour Smart and Break The Band".  This book is over 500 pages of How-to's, war stories, mistakes to avoid and inside tips from Martin and over 100 music biz professionals.

Martin created the book after he was drafted to teach a class at Columbia College and realized there was no text book that covered the modern day music industry.  Check out the show to find out why you need this book.

On The Rhythm Method
We'll meet Herman Matthews.

His latest release is titled "Home At Last".  Featuring a cast of all stars, Herman's record has groove, style and something even harder to come by... a sense of humor.

We'll talk about growing up in Houston, playing with "Tower Of Power" , and the pitfalls of popular peanut brittle. Oh, and we'll find out how he came up with the song - "Chop That Bar-b-cue"

Now... Respect for the people that keep this fine show going!  Roland.  No kidding, Roland has been supporting Musicians Radio from the get go and we really appreciate the fact that they want to get this stuff out there as much as we do.  Please click on this link and find out more about the cool stuff they make.
