She has a new record out produced by Chuck Prophet. It's titled Translated From Love. Kelly used a recording process new to her that seems to have payed off. So why has she decided to stop touring? Tune in and find out. We'll have commentary from Celia Hirschman. After all the media covering the Grammy Broadcast, one commentary I happened to hear really struck me. It was one of those "I wished I'd said that" moments.
Since I couldn't say it, I decided to see if I could play it. So I phoned her up and asked. One thing quickly led to another and the nice folks at KCRW gave me permission to replay the commentary. Check out Celia's "On The Beat" commentary about "Music's Biggest Night".
Here's a curious fact: did you know that the engineers of most of the Beatles records never received gold or platinum record awards. Or any sort of acknowledgment? Primarily it was because at that time they only gave them to the artists. Nowadays everyone from the studio receptionist to the video stylist gets one. Anyway... engineer, author and Beatles expert Brian Kehew is trying to change all that. On this weeks show we'll talk about his petition to get some of the pioneers of rock musics' sound some recognition. Also, I'll talk with Neil Giraldo. Guitarist, producer and ... fitness guru? Yep. He even has his own nutritional supplement!
